Bulb is the first luminaire by Ingo Maurer. Bulb looks like an oversized light bulb: inside the body made of mouth-blown crystal glass from Murano, a conventional light bulb shines with a mirrored dome. The base is made of chromed metal. The oversized bulb is often compared to Pop Art.
Bulb, designed in 1966, was already included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in 1968, and is a real design icon.
Ingo Maurer originally selected a 100-watt lamp for design purposes. Lamps with less output are smaller and are not really recommended.
