Ceramic Vessel 3

Julie York is a maker whose practice is situated within both art and design. In this current body of work, she explores the role of architecture and the perception of space through two and three-dimensional images and objects. 

These ceramic vessels are made by hand on Bowen Island, BC and each piece is one of a kind. These large ceramic vessels are built through a combined process engineered by Julie, which includes three different techniques: coil building, wheel throwing, and sledging. The images are hand-drawn onto the form and then painted using clay and pigment to create the final surfaces.
