In a New Light –Â Herman Miller is built on a legacy of creative collaboration. In a first-of-its-kind collection, the Danish design brand HAY thoughtfully reimagines eight Eames classics. The collection presents a unique vision of colour, the evolution of conscious materials, and a beautifully interconnected story of design partnership.
Inspired by a built-in that designers Charles and Ray Eames created for their home in Pacific Palisades, California, the Eames Sofa Compact (1954) sits on an airy pedestal of chromed-steel legs. With plush foam cushions supported by resilient webbing, it offers firm but flexible support from shoulders to knees.
The Eames Sofa Compact is offered in a special re-issue of the Jacob’s Coat textile designed by Alexander Girard (1959) and paired with subtle black-blue frame. The Jacob’s Coat textile is made using a rare, intensive vertical weaving technique that creates incredibly vibrant, concise coloured stripes.
