Designed in 1952 for his Cabanon, a cabin built by Le Corbusier on the Côte d’Azur where, alongside the many examples of built-in furniture, he envisioned furniture pieces that are all designed like boxes. A Spartan and, at the same time, sophisticated seat, the masterful dovetail joints highlight the connecting points between the solid wood pieces.
The oblong openings on the two main sides make it easy to move the stool, which can be positioned either horizontally or vertically. The exclusive system of dovetail joints on the corners shows off the precision and skill of Cassina in working solid wood.
